RTX 4080 GPUs Are Just As Large As RTX 4090s
With Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4080 coming soon on November 16th, some of Nvidia’s AIB partners have already started releasing released product pages for GeForce RTX 4080 models such as Asus, Gigabyte and Galax. Unfortunately the list of AIB partners isn’t all here, but they should give you some good insight into the GeForce RTX 4080 form factor. Also, expect the GeForce 4080 to show up on the list of best graphics cards once the Ada Lovelace graphics card hits the market.
If we mean the GeForce RTX 4080, it’s worth mentioning that we’re discussing the GeForce RTX 4080 16GB variant. However, it appears that some AIB partners still use that badge to save on e-waste so that they can continue to use the GeForce RTX 4080 16GB boxes they made before the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB was discontinued. is.
The GeForce RTX 4080 follows the GeForce RTX 4090 with 9,728 CUDA cores and a max boost clock of 2.51 GHz. Memory specifications include 16 GB of GDDR6X memory running on a 256-bit wide bus. The GPU has a base power rating of 320W and comes from a 16-pin power connector.
Asus
Asus has two versions of the RTX 4080. RTX 4080 ROG Strix (opens in new tab) and the RTX 4080 TUF Gaming. (opens in new tab) Both models are identical to their RTX 4090 counterparts, including the cooler design language and physical size of the card. The ROG model retains the same red, black, and blue theme and features a matte black GPU shroud and silver text. The TUF is similar, with a gray finish and an RGB light bar on the top right.
Asus appears to have reused the RTX 4090 cooler in the RTX 4080. For future RTX 4080 Asus owners, this is great for overclocking as the cooler keeps the GPU core and memory very cold. But hopefully we should get a lower-end Asus RTX 4080 version, such as the dual series to cater to the “compact” PC market.
gigabyte
Gigabyte’s listing is more appealing, with six different variants including a full-fledged water block version that lacks the Eagle, Aero, and RTX 4090 variants.
of 5 SKUs Includes Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4080 Eagle, Eagle OC, RTX 4080 Aero OC, RTX 4080 Gaming OC, Aorus RTX 4080 Xtreme Waterforce (AIO version), and RTX 4080 Xtreme Waterforce WB.
The RTX 4080 Eagle variant represents Gigabyte’s budget RTX 4080 graphics card, featuring a newly redesigned aesthetic. Gone are the knurled rim cooler shrouds, replaced by a standard rectangular shroud design featuring a gray color scheme with blue and white accents.
Sadly, the card isn’t that small, just under four PCIe slots thick and 342mm long. The height, on the other hand, is quite large at 40mm, which greatly exceeds the size of a PCIe slot, making case compatibility an issue with his smaller ATX, microATX, and Mini-ITX chassis.
The RTX 4080 Aero shares similar characteristics with the Eagle, adopting the same general form factor and triple-fan cooler design. However, the color scheme has been changed to white and silver, just like the previous Aero cards. Additionally, the card shroud has a matte white finish and he has two silver accents between his three fans in the center.
Like the Asus models, Gigabyte’s RTX 4080 Gaming and Gaming OC video cards share exactly the same cooling dimensions as the RTX 4090. The GPU also shares the same cooler design, with the shroud having a matte gray finish and an RGB ring light inside the triple fan cooler layout.
Again, it looks like Gigabyte is putting the RTX 4090 cooler into the 4080 version in this case, but the 4080 Gaming OC is a little different. Despite being 0.2mm shorter in width (that’s what the spec sheet says), the 4080 Gaming OC is somehow 2mm shorter.
Nothing to note about the water block version other than getting the RTX 4080 in both the water block version and the AIO variant. The differences between the 4090 versions are minimal at best.
Galax
Galax’s RTX 4080 ST When SG Model, SG version represents the factory model.
The Galax RTX 4080 ST/SG features a black color scheme with an emphasis on RGB lighting. Shrouded sports a matte and glossy black finish, highlighting his RGB lighting on the card. Illumination is all over the card. It sits between the edge and the side triple-fan cooler design. Plus, it features a design cue from Lightning.
Compared to the RTX 4090 model, the RTX 4080 version looks the same (like the Asus model) but has a big size difference. The 4090 model is 74mm thick and the 4080 model is 66mm thick. As a result, they slim his 4080 down slightly.
So from these three brands, the GeForce RTX 4080 overall doesn’t seem to be much smaller than the RTX 4090 despite the drastically different power consumption ratios. However, these cards still have the same case compatibility issues as the RTX 4090.
