Ryzen 7000 CPUs Get Price Cuts In China, Up to 27 Percent Lower Than U.S. Pricing
AMD’s Ryzen 7000 processors recently hit the retail market on September 27th.According to a Chinese publication preview (opens in new tab), Zen 4-based chips have already seen their first price cut in less than two months. This is rarely seen as hardware is usually more expensive abroad.
It’s unclear if AMD announced a price cut to boost sales in China, or if it was a retailer-specific decision, in this case JD.com, one of the country’s largest e-commerce sites. There are still plenty of Ryzen 5000 processors in stock on the market. So Ryzen 7000 sales are probably not booming.
The Ryzen 9 7950X Launched For $765, Now Selling For $557 (opens in new tab) At JD.com, it’s 27% cheaper than when it first launched. That’s a 27% price drop, which is pretty steep considering this is the flagship Zen 4 chip. Additionally, the Ryzen 9 7950X is 20% cheaper in China than in the US where the 16-core part still maintains its suggested retail price ($699).
On the other hand, the Ryzen 9 7900X has seen a slight price cut, albeit a significant one. The 12-core chip, which previously retailed for $598, now retails for $459. (opens in new tab) at JD.com. The new price is 23% lower than the original price and 16% lower than the US price.

Overall, the Ryzen 7000 and AM5 platforms are an expensive ecosystem. Prices for AMD X670 motherboards range from $250 to $1,300. Even the budget-friendly B650 model starts at $190. The more premium B650 motherboards cost up to $450, effectively pushing them out of the realm of the X670. Additionally, AMD’s decision to abandon the DDR4 standard in favor of more expensive DDR5 memory doesn’t help ease adoption either.
It’s not hard to see why Ryzen 7000 needs a little push to improve sales. The memory kit alone is worth $189.99. It will be interesting to see if the juicy Ryzen 7000 price cuts from China make their way to the US market. .
