Ryzen Mobile 7040HS “Phoenix” Laptops Delayed Until April

For all those who have been waiting for the first laptops to incorporate AMD’s monolithic Zen 4 mobile CPUs, AMD sent out a message Friday afternoon to wait a little longer. A laptop based on AMD’s Ryzen Mobile 7040HS series CPUs is officially delayed by a month and from March he’s pushing up the expected availability in April.

First detailed at AMD’s CES 2023 keynote, the Ryzen Mobile 7040HS series (codenamed phoenix) is AMD’s first mobile monolithic die CPU based on the Zen 4 architecture and will be its flagship silicon for mobile devices in 2023. Not only does Phoenix incorporate AMD’s latest CPU architecture, but it also adds an updated RDNA3 architecture iGPU to the mix. A first for AMD CPUs, a dedicated AI processing block AMD named Ryzen AI. All of this is manufactured using TSMC’s 4nm process, making it AMD’s most advanced single silicon.

At the time of the announcement, the Phoenix-based laptop was expected to hit the market in March of this year (ie this month). However, AMD sent a brief announcement on a sleepy Friday afternoon stating that a device based on the new chip has been pushed back to his April, a month earlier, citing “platform readiness.” Did.
