Seagate, EK Bring Tiny Lightsabers to M.2 SSDs
EKWB and Seagate announced New special edition Star Wars Firecuda NVMe SSD honoring the franchise’s most famous Jedi and Sith Lords: Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader. These new drives feature faceplates with each character’s name and their respective lightsaber design. Seagate partnered with EK to create a heatsink for the drive to help keep it cool under Segate’s Star Wars-themed faceplate.
Seagate 2TB and 1TB A version of the FireCuda 530 NVMe SSD for Star Wars-themed drives. The FireCuda 530 is Seagate’s fastest NVMe drive of his, supporting PCIe Gen 4 with a maximum read speed of 7300MB/s. In our review, we praised the FireCuda 530 series for its excellent warranty rating and blazingly fast sustained write performance.
Sandwiched between the drive and faceplate is an EKWB-designed low-profile heatsink made from premium anodized aluminum. This keeps the drive cool under the Star Wars faceplate for maximum performance over time.
The faceplate has a matte black finish that highlights the RGB illuminated lightsaber in the center of the heatsink. A lightsaber hilt fills the bottom of a heatsink connected to his RGB strip in the center that mimics a lightsaber blade. Each drive comes with his 3 different faceplates with different lightsaber colors and pattern designs for Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader.
These Star Wars SSDs are perfect for any Star Wars themed setup. The unique lightsaber design stands out in typical gaming PCs with the M.2 slot exposed and away from the primary PCIe x16 slot. This prevents the graphics card from blocking the faceplate cover and gives everyone a good view of each lightsaber’s unique design. Again, the colors are RGB lit, so you can change the blade color to whatever you want.
As mentioned above, only 2TB and 1TB special edition variants with EKWB heatsinks and Jedi/Sith Lord faceplates will be produced. Pricing and availability are unknown.
