Shiba Inu community clash over allegations of foul play by developers

The Shiba Inu (SHIB) has fallen 7% over the past 24 hours following the allegations.

Sibarium is a Layer 2 that aims to bring scaling, speed, low fees, and additional development capabilities to the Ethereum chain. Started a beta test called PuppyNet March 11.

However, as documented by @Rancune_eththe Shiba Inu Discord is flooded with hot posts, following claims that a SHIB developer stole Linear’s code.

The @Rancune_eth tweet also included screenshots of community members claiming project lead Shytoshi was manipulating the community while keeping the team secret.

Siberum [sic] is a broken chain from linear. I forgot to change the chain id.

Shiba Inu foul?

This claim stems from a Discord member named “STEVE” who pointed out that Shiba Inu’s genesis file has the same chain ID as Linear.

“This ID is completely unique, and Metamask and other wallet applications use it to decide which network to send your tx to. [sic]”

STEVE said that the Shiba Inu team seems to have taken Linear’s testnet generation files and renamed them. But crucially, they forgot to change the chain ID.

Using an existing chain ID means that anyone working on your chain will be working on a copied chain, Steve said.

“Linear has had its chain ID live since February and planned for December.”

STEVE claims there is no way this could happen unless Shytoshi or developer Kaal Dhairya get in touch with the linear team and somehow trick them.

Shitoshi answers

Discord user “Trophias (PDT -8)”, who claims to be a staff member of the Metaverse team, said neither he nor his colleagues knew what was going on.

Trophias (PDT -8) explained that the entire team was fired by Shytoshi, but “Marcie” said the team was not fired. Management has not given the team a candid answer since the dismissal and the subsequent uncertainty of whether or not.

“They don’t give us transparency and refuse to communicate.”

Rather ominously, Trophias (PDT -8) said, “There are many things you all don’t know that have been silenced.” However, he refused to explain further, saying that it would be revealed sooner or later.

respond and Shitoshi Cleaned up the incident as FUD. He has several “Chain ID was randomly chosenunder development. None were taken at the time. He admitted that it was an oversight not to double-check the chain ID when the testnet was launched.

I made a mistake in not reconfirming when the Puppynet network was launched

There were no comments regarding allegations that staff were being mistreated, manipulated or lied to.
