Spider-Man 2 Still on Track for 2023 Release, Says Insomniac

Insomniac Games has reassured fans that the highly anticipated Spider-Man 2 is on track for a 2023 release date, despite developer silence since its reveal last year.

As reported by dual shockersInsomniac took part in a conversation between fans on Twitter (below) pointing out that it’s been over a year since the release of a critical update for Spider-Man 2.

It’s not confirmed when we’ll hear more about the game, but Insomniac instead explained that it’s not a development issue, but rather logistical reasons to show it off less.

“Don’t [be worried]“We are well on our way and still on schedule for 2023. It takes time, effort, resources and coordination to get the game to show.”

Fan concerns may have been a little justified given Sony’s track record of pushing back exclusivity, but God of War’s latest example, Ragnarok, may address those concerns. Many expected a delay, and Sony Santa Monica likewise reassured fans that it was on schedule, with the game going gold before its November 9th launch.

Spider-Man 2, announced by Sony as a PlayStation 5 exclusive in September 2021, promises to continue the story of Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face new (but familiar) foes in Venom. The villain’s voice actor promised “the game is massive,” while Marvel Entertainment’s VP of Creative Bill Rosemann simultaneously commented that Spider-Man 2 would be “a little darker” than his two previous entries. did.
