Splinter Cell Remake Director Leaves Ubisoft

The director of Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Remake has retired after over 11 years at Ubisoft.

As reported by VGCannounced by David Grivel LinkedIn After over a decade working on Ubisoft games such as Assassin’s Creed Unity, Far Cry 5, and most recently Splinter Cell Remake, he’s moving on to new adventures.

It’s unclear how Grivel’s resignation will affect development of the remake at Ubisoft Toronto, but it looks like he’s leaving on good terms.

“After over 11 years at Ubisoft, it’s time for me to embark on a new adventure,” Grivel said in the post. “11 years is a long time, almost impossible to summarize in one post, but I have to say I have been lucky. I was lucky to be here.I made a lot of friends.

“I would like to say ‘au revoir’ to all the people I have worked with at Ubisoft from the bottom of my heart. Our industry is a small industry, so this is not a “farewell”. What is that new adventure? Please look forward to it!”

Ubisoft has reportedly recently suffered a “massive drain” of talent, especially at its Canadian studio. This is because new and upcoming studios offer more competitive salaries and better working conditions.
