Splitgate Devs End Development on Popular Shooter to Focus on Unreal Engine 5 Sequel

Developer 1047 Games has announced that it has finished developing future features for Spligate and will be using Unreal Engine 5 to create new games in the Splitegate universe.

“After careful consideration and deliberation, the 1047 Games team decided to take feature development to build something worthy of gaming fans, and to build upon an existing product in a way that didn’t attempt to actually work. We have decided to end ‘Splitgate,'” the studio said in a statement.

The team stresses that the next game is a shooter, has many portals, and is free to play.

1047 Games continues. In fact, we’re rolling out a new Battle Pass on his September 15th – and it’s free to everyone as a thank you for playing Spligate. “

Splitegate was released in early access in 2019 and has remained in beta since then with regular content updates. The beta was overwhelmingly popular, with tens of thousands of players jumping into the game. 1047 also raised $100 million from the popularity of Splitage.

We will continue to support Splitgate, with some minor updates and fixes, but most of the effort goes into creating a brand new shooter in the Splitgate universe.

Splitgate’s review states, “Splitgate: Arena Warfare’s Portal Gun turns a forgettable arena shooter into one of the smartest games I’ve played in years.”
