Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic Remake Reportedly Paused Indefinitely

The development of the next remake of Star Wars Knights in the Old Republic was reportedly suspended indefinitely after what appeared to be disappointing with the current progress of the RPG.

according to BloombergThe internal demo of the recent Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic demo at Texas-based studio Aspyr didn’t land as much as it did when it was shown to Lucasfilm and Sony. This caused Aspyr to suspend the project and inform employees that the company was looking for “new contracts and development opportunities.”

In addition, Aspyr has fired Jason Minor, remake art director and design director. He reportedly stated on social media channels that his dismissal was unexpected.

Aspyr has been working on a remake of the 2003 Star Wars RPG for the past three years and finally announced the game in September 2021. However, after presenting a demo or vertical slice of the game to production partners Lucasfilm and Sony, employees then learned about pausing development and firing twice.

Bloomberg reports that Aspyr’s studio director told staff that the vertical slices “are not where they wanted, and the project will be suspended.”

Aspyr’s future involvement in the project remains unclear, but Aspyr’s parent company Embracer announced in May that Saber Interactive would support the project, allowing some Aspyr employees to take over the project altogether. I think there is sex.
