Nioh developers Team Ninja have responded to rumors that they have plans to reboot the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden franchises, and they probably won’t be returning anytime soon.
talk VGCTeam Ninja creative director Tom Lee said the studio would not announce anything regarding the new entry, despite showing both franchises at a conference under the headline “reboot of popular series.” rice field.
“Both Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden are long-standing pillar franchises of Team Ninja. These famous titles are synonymous with the studio’s history and reputation,” said Lee.
“It goes without saying that we can’t leave both of these important titles unmentioned when we talk about past and future project developments. But at this point, we don’t have any details or information to share about any of these franchises. There is none.
“Like many of our loyal fans, we share our enthusiasm for the return of these beloved titles, and will make sure to provide appropriate updates when the day comes.”
Reboot rumors started after South Korean media outlets ruriweb Team Ninja President Fumihiko Yasuda reported that he showed off both franchises at the G-Star conference in Busan. The slideshow image (above) appeared to indicate that the developer was about to reboot a “popular series”, with Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden being used as examples.
Perhaps most recently known for the Nioh franchise and the upcoming Soul-like Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Team Ninja released Dead or Alive 6 in 2019, perhaps making the reboot somewhat unusual. .
Ninja Gaiden, on the other hand, might be a better target. It is dormant again.
