The Game Awards Fan Vote Has Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers Crushing Elden Ring for Game of the Year

Genshin Impact and Sonic Frontiers are vying for the fan vote to determine the winner of The Game Awards 2022’s Player’s Voice category, dominating both Elden Ring and God of War: Ragnarok.

Player’s Voice Award Unlike other awards to be awarded at Geoff Keighley’s annual show, this is a 100% fan-voted category and determined by a handpicked jury of mostly influencers and members of the media.

In the weeks leading up to the live show, gamers will be able to vote for their favorite titles of 2022, with the third and final round of voting narrowing the pool down to just five games. This year’s finalists include Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, Genshin Impact, Sonic Frontiers, and Stray.

At the time of writing, with just over a day left until the polls close, Genshin Impact dominates their rivals with 53% of the votes, while Sonic Frontiers maintain a comfortable second place with 33%. Elden Ring, on the other hand, is favored by just 8% of the voting audience, while Ragnarok (released last month to critical acclaim) remains his 5%. Stray, on the other hand, has only 1% of the vote.

IGN will be live-streaming The Game Awards starting Thursday, December 8 at 4:30 PM PT / 7:30 PM ET. As usual, the show will feature numerous world premieres, including musical performances, celebrity appearances, and gameplay premieres from Star Wars: Jedi: Survivor.
