The Last of Us HBO Series Drove 238 Percent Jump in PlayStation Game’s UK Sales

Watching The Last of Us isn’t enough. Viewers are ready to play too. With The Last of Us debuting on TV, the first chapter in Joel and Ellie’s journey has benefited from a significant increase in UK sales on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.

according to, The Last of Us Part 1, the 2022 PS5 remake of the game, re-entered the UK sales chart at number 20 after a 238% increase in sales for the week of 21 January 2023. Its PS4 predecessor, The Last of Us: Remastered, also saw considerable growth, coming in at number 32 with a 322% sales increase.

Perhaps the least surprising detail is that these figures first episode The live-action version of The Last of Us series released on January 15th.

Despite the boost, The Last of Us lost out to heavy hitters like new PlayStation titles and regular Nintendo staples. His 2022 releases like God of War Ragnarok, Pokemon Violet and Scarlet, and FIFA 23 accounted for other top ten box sales.

But The Last of Us lives up to its name by doing more than just revitalizing sales data. Its first episode broke records on HBO. Over 4.7 million viewers tuned in for the premiere. This made the video game adaptation HBO’s second-best debut of the past decade, beaten only by the Game of Thrones spin-off, House of the Dragon.
