The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition Announced for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition has officially been announced, bringing a revamped sci-fi RPG to PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on March 7, 2023.

Developed by Obsidian Entertainment in Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds first released in 2019, bringing players to a colony at the edge of a corporate-controlled galaxy. Just like in the Fallout games, players make choices, engage in epic shootouts, interact with factions, and travel with allies.

The Outer Worlds: Spacer’s Choice Edition packages the base game and both DLCs (Murder on Eridanos and Peril of Gorgon) with “higher resolution graphics, dynamic weather system, overhauled lighting and environments, improved Improved performance and load times, enhanced details. Characters, increased level cap, and much more.

If a player already owns The Outer Worlds and its DLC for Xbox One, PS4, or PC, they can upgrade to Spacer’s Choice Edition on the same console (where applicable) from the PC Store for $9.99. If you simply want to purchase the game, it will cost you $59.99.

In a review for The Outer Worlds, “Obsidian has found its own way in the space between Bethesda and BioWare. It’s great. And a new RPG from one of these influential developers.” Considering that is still a few years away, the game couldn’t have been better timed.

“It’s not as explorable as one big open world, but it packs most of the flexible quests and conflicts into a series of smaller ones. Also, the combat, characters, and companion system have a lot of pre-existing ideas. It feels like it has enough new twists on it to feel like it’s not a copy, but an homage with its own personality.”

As Obsidian announced at E3 2021 that The Outer Worlds 2 is on the way, this could be the perfect time to dive into or return to The Outer Worlds. Little has been revealed about the sequel, but its hilarious, fourth-wall-breaking trailer shows that the humor and style aren’t compromised.
