Ubisoft’s Unannounced, Delayed Game Is Reportedly Assassin’s Creed Rift

Yesterday, Ubisoft announced that it had postponed the “smaller unreleased premium game,” although the title of the game was unknown. Now, sources have revealed that the game was the codename for the next Assassin’s Creed title, Lift.

according to Report by BloombergAssassin’s Creed Drift was postponed from February to May or June due to unplanned development.

The lift was originally planned as an extension of the 2020 title Assassin’s Creed Valhara, but the project became a standalone game in late 2021 and was added to the company’s thin release schedule. Little is known about this game, but it is reported to have a smaller scope set in the Middle East and focused on stealth gameplay.

As Bloomberg points out, Ubisoft’s fiscal year is particularly thin due to Rift’s delay.

This isn’t the only major change in Ubisoft’s release schedule this week. Yesterday, the company announced that it had completely stopped developing four titles, including the Ghost Recon frontline. We also announced that we have postponed Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora until at least 2023, adding yet another Ubisoft title to our vast list of postponed games this year. Many have been postponed due to pandemics and political conflicts.
