Veteran Resident Evil Producer Has Left Capcom to Join NetEase

A veteran Capcom producer who has worked on several Resident Evil games has left the company after 27 years to join NetEase Games, a Chinese mobile game developer and technology company.

Mr. Hiroyuki Kobayashi announced a job change in a tweet (below)he confirmed his new role as a producer at NetEase, saying details will come at a later date.

President Kobayashi said, “I have been indebted to you for 27 years, but I will be leaving Capcom on March 31, 2022 and will officially join NetEase Games as a producer. This new company will provide more fun entertainment in a new era. We will continue to create experiences.”

Kobayashi joined Capcom in 1995, where he was the programmer for the first two Resident Evil games, the planner for the original Dino Crisis, and the producer for the original Devil May Cry. He has also produced Resident Evil He Remake, Resident Evil 4, Killer 7, Dragon’s Dogma, and most recently Mega Man 11 as an executive producer.

NetEase is currently developing Harry Potter Magic Awakened virtual trading card game, Dead by Daylight Mobile, Lord of the Rings: Rise to War and more. He’s also rumored to be working with Bungie on his Destiny Mobile game.
