With a cornucopia of titles to choose from, the debate can quickly heat up when it comes to picking the 32 greatest sports games of all time. So, we consulted various staff at IGN, including publishers, feature heads, and social media heads (to name a few) to select and seed games that would compete for GOAT status.

Given key consensus, IGN staff favorites, and overall popularity of the game or franchise, we’ve grouped them into four talented brackets: Traditional Sports, Arcade Sports, Racing/Fighting, and Wild Cards.

To maintain balance and diversity, a Franchise can only have one Representative. As such, each selection serves as the face of that series. Therefore, if MVP Baseball 2005 is elected, it will represent the entire Triple Play/MVP series. Finally, this bracket does not include mobile sports games.
