While Dark and Darker Languishes in Legal Limbo, One Fan Is Trying to Make it in Fortnite

Whether or not Dark and Darker sees the light of day is unknown, but one fan is trying to take matters into his own hands by trying to recreate the next game in Fortnite.

Reddit user fermelon recently revealed that he is trying to recreate the Ironmace game using Fortnite’s creation tools. post a short clip of a work in progress version of the map. Gameplay shows a Fortnite character walking through a very dark castle with only torches lighting the way.

Some commented that the minimap displayed in the corner was a recreation of the Dark and Darker minimap. There are no enemies in the gameplay clip, but it does a great job recreating the setting of Dark and Darker. Fermelon said he plans to share the code for the island as soon as Epic approves the creator’s submission, so other of his Dark and Darker fans can check out the game for themselves.

Epic CEO Tim Sweeney is unlikely to be a fan of the game for what it’s worth.

As for Dark and Darker itself, it’s currently undergoing a legal battle between developer Ironmace and video game publisher Nexon. Nexon has accused Iron Mace of using stolen assets and code in developing a dungeon-crawling PvPvE game, which has led to delays in his public playtesting.
