YouTuber Spends $22,000 to Buy Every Wii U and 3DS Game Ahead of Nintendo eShop Shutdown

The YouTuber has spent over $22,000 to buy all his Wii U and 3DS games digitally ahead of the Nintendo eShop closing next week.

As reported by VGC, Completionist uploaded a video We share the effort that took 328 days to complete. A total of 866 Wii U games and 1,547 3DS games were purchased for this project, including DSiWare, Virtual Console and DLC.

The completed project, which includes a Wii U with 3 external hard drives and a 3DS with 4 micro SD cards, will be donated to the Video Game History Foundation or subject to store closure on March 27. Preserve digital products that sometimes cease to exist. .

Completionist spent $22,791 on 464 eShop cards. This equates to 1.2 terabytes of Wii U games and 267 gigabytes of 3DS, equivalent to 2,136,689 blocks (Nintendo’s proprietary data measurement system).

However, these incredible numbers were only half the battle for The Completionist. There is a possibility.

To prevent fraud, there are restrictions on purchasing eShop gift cards. This meant that teams of competitionists had to visit various stores to obtain the required amount of money. The eShop also has a $250 cap, limiting how much you can add at once before you start purchasing games.

Additionally, you can only purchase about 10 games at a time before the 3DS forces you to download them, and your total daily spending is also capped. DLC purchases on the 3DS must also be made in-game, and some games require partial or complete completion before additional content can be purchased.

The competitionists explain all the issues in a video, but it goes without saying that the process was not smooth sailing.

If you still have a Wii U or 3DS, be sure to buy anything left on your wish list before March 27th. Best 3DS games including Waker HD and Fire Emblem Awakening and Bravely Default.
