YouTuber’s Pet Fish Streams Pokemon, Then Commits Credit Card Fraud

youtuber invincible channel is famous for live-streaming pet fish playing various games using motion tracking software that registers the pet’s position as button inputs. Fish have achieved some very impressive things in these streams, and in 2020, Defeat Pokemon Sapphire After 3,195 hours of running. But earlier this month, their fish did something it hadn’t (hopefully) done before. That’s committing credit card fraud.

However, the game crashed about five hours after entering the stream, giving the fish free access to the rest of its owner’s switch.

From there, the fish went to the eShop and added 500 yen (approximately $3.85) of funds to the owner’s account, revealing the owner’s credit card information to the viewer in the process.

We also sent PayPal verification emails to owners, redeemed Nintendo Switch Online points for Nintendo Switch Sports profile pictures, and downloaded the Nintendo 64 emulator app for Switch.

Fortunately, tech spotthe YouTuber was able to receive a refund after explaining the situation to Nintendo.

We gave Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet a 6 in our review, praising their massive open world and story, but criticizing their all too obvious performance issues.
