92NY’s New Season Includes Ian McEwan and Tom Stoppard

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Katie Couric and Ralph Fiennes are among a string of actors, writers and dancers appearing in 92nd Street Y, New York’s upcoming fall season.

“It was very important to come out of Covid and really make a statement that we are back for the 2022-23 season,” said Seth Pinsky, the organization’s chief executive, about programming. (The cultural institution has been renamed this year and is known as 92NY for short.)

Scheduled early in the season is Rolling Stone founder Jan Wenner in a conversation with longtime friend Bruce Springsteen (September 13) about his new book Like a Rolling Stone. Stone: A memoir.

The next day, filmmakers Ken Burns, Lynn Novick, Sarah Botstein and Daniel Mendelsohn will preview their upcoming documentary series.USA and the Holocaust‘ was followed by a panel discussion moderated by journalist and podcast host Kara Swisher.

Playwright Tom Stoppard, in what is believed to be his only New York talk of the season, will take the stage on September 18 to collaborate with German author and playwright Daniel Kehlmann on his new play Leopold. Discuss the Stadt.

On September 12th, journalist and author Couric will discuss her book Going There with New York Times investigative reporter Jodi Kantor. Booker Prize winner Ian McEwan has also joined the line-up and will be reading from his new novel The Lesson (September 19th). Nigerian novelist Adishi reads her new memoir ‘Notes of Heartbreak’ with her memoir writer and her CNN anchor Zain Usher (September 11) . Joshua Cohen discusses the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel Netanyahus (December 12).

Last year, 92NY’s Harkness Dance Center brought dance back to the stage. That tradition continues with tap his dancer Leonardo Sandoval and composer Gregory Richardson (December 22nd), as well as celebrations for the late dancer and choreographer Yuriko Kikuchi (October 27th).

The schedule continues to be filled with new events throughout the season. Venues will continue to require proof of vaccination for all attendees. Masking requirements will be determined in the coming weeks.
