AMD Will Reportedly Have 200,000 RX 7900-Series Cards for Sale

In a world where expensive products continue to be scarce despite a slowing economy, it’s good to know that AMD may be looking to sidestep this with the Radeon RX 7900 series. At the very least, the company has around 200,000 Radeon RX 7900 series graphics cars ready for his mid-December launch. Kyle Bennettour colleague of HardOCP fame happens to be a good leaker on Twitter.

Apparently there are “more than 200,000” Radeon RX 7900 XT and Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics cards from AMD. The release date is just a few days away and he’s December 13th. According to Kyle, 30,000 of his AMD cards are referenced. These graphics cards should be the best graphics cards available.

Depending on the model breakdown, but considering MSRP and potential volume spreads, there is over $2 billion in hardware waiting to be sold. “We have been confirmed by multiple sources,” Kyle Bennett said. “amdradeon expects to ship over 200,000 7900 XT and XTX GPUs in Q4. On launch day, he has over 30,000 reference cards on shelves.”

Now, some may wonder if 200,000 graphics cards make sense for the market. According to Jon Peddie Research, the industry typically sells about 10 million discrete desktop graphics cards each quarter (although that dipped to about 7 million in Q3), with hundreds more. There are 10,000 standalone GPUs in notebook PCs.

Assuming the 200,000 launch date information is correct, 200,000 units doesn’t sound like a lot from a quarterly perspective. AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 series, on the other hand, is an ultra-high-end offering and is priced accordingly. What Kyle talks about is that he hopes they get bought on day one too.

Given that the graphics cards we deal with range in price from $899 to as low as $999, we can assume that we’re talking about $2 billion worth of inventory here. Since the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 have both been regularly sold out or overpriced since their launch, we’ll have to compare and see how AMD’s new cards perform.

Will there be enough units for everyone who wants them on launch day? Time will tell. And there is almost no waiting time! The official launch is on the morning of Tuesday, December 13th. Check back soon for the full review. We can see how his RX 7900 series parts from AMD outperform the competition.
