AMD’s RX 7900 XT Is the Second-Best Selling GPU on Amazon, at 17% Off
AMD’s RX 7900 XT is gaining momentum in the GPU market and now second best selling (opens in new tab) At the time of this writing, you can buy graphics cards on Amazon for 17% below MSRP. This makes AMD’s 7900 XT not only one of the best bargains in the high-end GPU market with a better value than Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti, but also one of the best GPUs in general. I’m here.
The specific model in question is the XFX RX 7900 XT Speedster MERC310. $787 (opens in new tab)At this price, the 7900 XT is $12 below the RTX 4070 Ti, but 9% better in rasterized games. It also has 8GB more video memory compared to just 12 on the 4070 Ti for a total of 20GB. This is important for driving AAA titles at maximum settings and resolutions for years to come.
The card itself is a huge 13.5-inch long triple-fan, triple-slot graphics card. The shrouds are painted in a stealthy matte black finish with silver accents. Clock speeds range from a base of 1775MHz to a maximum boost frequency of 2535MHz. The card also features two PCIe 8-pin auxiliary power connectors and XFX recommends a minimum of 750W PSU to run this card.
With this killer deal, it should come as no surprise that AMD is getting a lot of sales with the RX 7900 XT. The high price of Nvidia’s RTX 40-series graphics cards combined with the underwhelming memory configuration of the 12GB RTX 4070-series is not an exciting combination for gamers. The rather low memory footprint is of particular concern, as 12GB is the minimum requirement to drive his 4K games on ultra settings, including his new 2023 title. resident evil 4 and The Last of Us Part 1.
Again, the 7900 XT’s performance is excellent in rasterized games, beating the RTX 4070 Ti by 9% at 1440P. This sandwiches the performance of the 7900 XT between the RTX 4070 Ti and the much more expensive GeForce RTX 4080 and is cheaper than those competitors. The only exception to this rule is RT performance. The RTX 4070 unsurprisingly leads by 18% due to its superior ray tracing hardware. Nvidia also has an advantage with his DLSS support, with far more games supporting supersampling tech compared to AMD’s FSR counterparts.
But if you don’t like Nvidia’s flashy tech, or are willing to make some sacrifices for great value, AMD’s RX 7900 XT is a great choice for high-refresh esports, native 1440P, and 4K gaming.
