AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X3D Available for Pre-Order in Europe

A French retailer has reportedly opened pre-orders for AMD’s flagship Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor with 3D V-Cache. video cardsThe CPU is priced at €800 ($720 excluding VAT), which is higher than the official suggested retail price. Of course, this happens before the retail launch scheduled for February 28th, so there’s probably some profit over what is believed to be a higher demand, limited quantity part for the first rollout. It’s not that shocking to see you get.

Rue du Commerce (opens in new tab) is currently selling AMD’s 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X processor without 3D V-Cache but with overclocking support and for €715. So it’s logical that the more powerful Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 3D V-Cache is also more expensive, while the retailer says it will ship his CPU on March 16th, 2023. This is a bit behind the official launch date of AMD’s new Ryzen 7000X3D CPUs.

AMD is set to release three Ryzen 7000 X3D series processors based on the Zen 4 microarchitecture and enhanced with an additional 64MB of L3 3D V-Cache. 7900X3D with 140MB of L2+L3 cache and 16 core Ryzen 9 7950X3D with 144MB of L2+L3 cache. US MSRPs are set at $449, $599 and $699 respectively.

The company positions these CPUs as the best CPUs for gaming. Adding cache should significantly improve performance for workloads that rely on memory bandwidth and single-threaded performance. This includes games, or at least some games. AMD creates a whitelist of games that run on CCD with added cache and games that run on CCD with no added cache and clocked up.

Unfortunately, the additional 3D V-Cache limits the overclocking abilities of AMD’s Ryzen CPUs, so the X3D processors will come with locked multipliers, allowing users to overclock only the memory of these units. However, PBO is still available, and since it’s lower voltage, it should be able to extract slightly higher performance.

AMD sells the Ryzen 7 7800X3D for $449, but it won’t be available until April. The Ryzen 9 7900X3D has a suggested price of $599, while the top-tier Ryzen 9 7950X3D is priced at $699. I don’t know yet if the retail price will go up.
