‘And Just Like That …’ Is Back. Here’s What to Remember.

“Sex and the City” premiered over 25 years ago on June 6, 1998, and much has been lost in the series since then, with six seasons of the original HBO show, two The movie, Max’s sequel series, is included. “And so on…”

The previously carefree Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) is still mourning the death of her husband, John (played by Chris Noth, popularly known as Mr. Big). Charlotte (Kristin Davis) misses her art career, which she gave up to raise her children. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is probably nostalgic for her consistent personality in her past. And she has Samantha (Kim Cattrall), a wit and source of her wisdom she can always rely on. In season 1, Cattrall appeared through text messages only, as she refused to participate.

However, season 2 premiered on Thursday, picking up weeks after the events of season 1 and promising a cameo appearance by Samantha and the return of several other beloved figures from the series’ past. How do all the characters fit together? What are some things to remember before watching a new episode? Read on.

Mr. Big wasn’t the only big love for Carrie. She was once engaged to Aidan (John Corbett), who returns in this season’s extended storyline. It’s worth remembering how things happened in the first place. and second.

With Aidan portrayed as Mr. Nice Guy in Sex and the City, Carrie may still blame herself for their breakup. After all, she cheated on him. (You could say it was a big deal.) And Aidan punished her for her passive-aggressiveness, even letting her know he was considering cheating on her in retaliation. Later, when Carrie panicked (to the point of her rash) about her impending wedding and demanded more time, Aidan pressured her to get married now. So maybe Aidan was able to dodge the bullet instead of being the good boyfriend who ran away.

Aidan then married a fellow furniture designer and had three sons. Still, he couldn’t stop kissing Carrie during a meeting in town. abu dhabi in the second movie. Carrie was quick to tell Big about this, but did Aidan do the same to his wife? Whatever trust issues he’s had before, he’ll have to accept that he’s just as flawed as Carrie, if not more. Should he and Carrie ignore all this history in order to be together again? If so, they would need a memory-free environment. Carrie’s old apartment, despite being renovated, contains their past rather than their future.

Carrie Bradshaw, an anthropologist, has written many long-running newspaper columns and articles for Vogue magazine, as well as for several magazines. Book. His latest, Loved & Lost, is a tearful memoir with an optimistic epilogue.

This upbeat ending was added at the request of Carrie editor Amanda (Ashley Atkinson), who urged the author to re-enter the dating pool to give readers a taste of hope. This leads her to step into her widow, Peter (Jon Tenney) (a low-spirited man), and podcast producer Franklin (Ivan Hernandez), who has undeniable potential. Further investigation may be required.

Amanda prepares for her next steps, including readings, interviews, and audiobook recordings. None of these have given Carrie what she still needs, and after Big’s death, it’s time for a more complete reboot.

For that, Carey will have to rely on other projects and other editors. Perhaps her role model and mentor, Vogue editor Enid Flick (Candice Bergen), will also return this season.we first met Enid was tearing Carrie to shreds when she failed to complete her favorite challenge in Season 4 of the original series.of last time In the first film, she was seen trying to convince Carey to pose for a photo shoot at a wedding haute couture.

Carey’s career at Vogue included: bumpy startBut as she came to appreciate Enid’s style, their relationship deepened into both friendship and odd romantic rivalry. When Enid was in her 50s, he was understandably resentful of younger women dating older men. (“Why are you swimming in my wading pool?” she asked Carrie at the time.) Now that Carrie herself is in her 50s, she may understand the plight better. yeah.

If it’s a distraction, Carrie can always focus on her podcast. This isn’t the excruciating “X, Y, and Me” that seems dead because comedian co-host Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez) has moved to Los Angeles for the pilot season.

Carrie’s modified pod is called “Sex and the City” (why not?). If Carrie wants it to continue, some key questions need to be sorted out. She’s been a sex columnist for years, so why is she still reluctant to talk about sex and her body parts? Who are the podcast and studio owners? What do they want from Carrie? And while romantic attention from Franklin may be exciting, it complicates their working relationship. isn’t it?

Charlotte York Goldenblatt gave up her career as an art dealer, gallery director and her dream of owning a gallery to one day create a family. Her family – her husband Harry (Evan Handler). her musical prodigy daughter Lily (Kathy Ann); And while her nonbinary child Rock (Alexa Swinton) still needs her, what she needs is a more tangible sense of accomplishment.

moreover charlotte wake up Last season, she reminded us that her eye for art is as sharp as ever. She appreciates the work of Gordon Parks, Carrie Mae Weems, Deborah Roberts, Mikalyne Thomas, and others, and criticizes her critical mother-in-law to the art of her friend Lisa Todd Wexley. Defended the collection. Could Lisa (Nicole Ari Parker) return the favor and accelerate Charlotte’s re-entry into the art world, perhaps by introducing her to a few key gallerists?

A polarizing Che will definitely return for Season 2 with Miranda. Miranda, a Harvard-educated lawyer who has never devoted herself so completely to her lover, gives up a prestigious internship to follow Che to Los Angeles. (This is probably not the wisest course of action for a recovering alcoholic.) It remains to be seen how Miranda’s husband and her son will handle the divorce.

Other characters are less certain about their love prospects. Miranda’s professor friend Dr. Nya Wallace (Karen Pittman) still has unresolved issues with her musician husband Andre Rashad (Leroy McClain) about her parentage. Seema (Sarita Chowdhury) was last spotted having a hot affair with a club owner, but she still thinks she’s a “relationship place” (a term coined by Carrie’s podcast). You may not be ready to reserve a table. But if the writers and producers offer her better material, she’s poised to be a bigger part of the show’s ensemble.

Finally, Stanford Blatch (the late Willie Garson) is probably still in Japan. And while Samantha is still in London, the door is open for her cameo return, as she and Carrie had an off-screen drinking party last season. Whatever happens, I have no doubt it will be great.
