ASRock DDR5 Installation Stickers Blamed for Motherboard RMAs
In an official statement by ASRock today The company has announced that anyone having trouble removing the DDR5 memory install sticker from their AM5 motherboard will be able to return it to the new version if they wish. Some users have reported that the stickers leave quite a bit of adhesive residue and can block some of his DDR5 contacts in the DIMM slots.
This story started a few days ago. ASRock X670E User reported that ASRock’s DDR5 memory installation sticker guide (stamped just above the DIMM slots) is a bit sticky and cannot be removed. This issue leaves the user with a potential risk of non-functioning memory DIMMs.
Luckily, we did not find any users reporting damage caused by this issue. Either way, this is an issue ASRock needs to address.
Thankfully, according to ASRock, those stickers are gone. These stickers are only present on ASRock’s first shipment of his AM5 motherboards. Abnormally long boot timeWith the first wave of BIOS revisions, the first boot may take several minutes, depending on the amount of memory.
But thanks to a new BIOS update, those long initial boot times are gone. As a result, ASRock will no longer put these stickers on DDR5 AM5 motherboards.
However, be aware that some early batches of ASRock’s AM5 motherboards featuring super sticky stickers may still be for sale. So this could be an issue for a few more weeks until the first batch is all sold.
If you encounter this problem, immediately contact the retailer where you bought the board for a replacement, or try removing the sticker yourself and hopefully all the glue will come off. Alternatively, you can manually remove any remaining adhesive if you are unable to remove it.
Generally, applying a mild heat source to the adhesive should remove it completely relatively easily, so there are still ways to get around this issue if you don’t want to wait for a replacement.
