Asus Announces 540 Hz, 49-inch 5K and 27-inch OLED ROG Gaming Monitors
Earlier this year, AUO demonstrated laptop and desktop displays. 480 Hz twisted nematic (TN) panelHowever, Asus goes above and beyond with the new Swift Pro PG248QP. It also uses a TN panel, but bumps the refresh rate to 540 Hz when overclocked.
The Swift Pro PG248QP features 24-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, supports Nvidia G-Sync adaptive sync technology, and Nvidia Reflex Analyzer for measuring system latency. Unfortunately, Asus doesn’t provide any information on the panel’s native refresh rate and other relevant specs such as response time, typical/maximum brightness and contrast ratio.
However, Asus points out that the Swift Pro PG248QP features what it calls “retractable claws” for the monitor base that can swing in or out based on customer preference. For those who prefer a larger display to speed as the best gaming monitor, Asus also announced the ROG Strix XG49WCR. This 49-inch monitor features his 5120 x 1440 resolution with a native 165Hz refresh rate and 1800R curve. Additionally, ROG Strix XG49WCR supports AMD FreeSync Premium right out of the box, capable of achieving 125% of the sRGB color space.
Also, a comprehensive range of ports including DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, USB hub, Ethernet port, Smart KVM switch and 65 watts of power delivery over USB-C for charging connected laptops and other peripherals It also has a layout.
The ROG Swift PG32UQXR debuts as the first ROG-branded monitor to support a DisplayPort 2.1 interface (it also supports HDMI 2.1). The 32-inch monitor features his 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution panel with a mini LED backlight for better contrast and a 160 Hz refresh rate. According to Asus, the FALD backlight has 576 independent zones, reaching a brightness of up to 1000 nits and achieving 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
Finally, we have the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM. This is a 27 inch monitor with a WQHD (2560 x 1440) OLED panel with a response time of 0.03 ms and a refresh rate of 240 Hz.
Asus has done a great job of optimizing cooling inside the monitor with carefully designed heatsinks and vents to extend the life of the OLED panel. Asus claims the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM will cover his 99% of his DCI-P3 color space and reach a peak brightness of 1000 nits.
For now, Asus has only confirmed that the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM will launch in Q1 2023, while the ROG Swift Pro PG248QP will launch in Q2 2023. Availability and pricing for the ROG Strix XG49WCR and ROG Swift PG32UQXR have yet to be announced.
