Asus Launches 34-inch TUF Gaming VG34VQL3A 180Hz WQHD Monitor
Asus is launching a new monitor in its popular TUG Gaming product line, and it looks like it’s going to pack quite a punch for enthusiasts.of TUF Gaming VG34VQL3A It has a 34 inch VA panel with 3440 x 1440 (WQHD) resolution. As is common with these widescreen monitors, the VG34VQL3A boasts a curved panel, especially the 1500R.
Other features include a 1ms GtG response time, a 400 nit brightness rating (available in SDR or HDR modes), and Asus claims 125% coverage of the sRGB color gamut. The refresh rate maxes out at 180Hz, a healthy improvement over standard 165Hz panels. However, we are starting to see more 34-inch WQHD space gaming monitors with 240Hz refresh rates.
One spec that caught my eye is the contrast ratio. VA panels are known for their excellent contrast. Not as good as Mini LED or OLED, but much better than IPS panels when it comes to black levels. A typical VA panel has a contrast ratio of around 3,000:1, but the VG34VQL3A boosts the contrast ratio to 4,000:1.
Asus has confirmed that the VG34VQL3A is AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certified, but it’s almost certain that it will also work with Nvidia G-Sync on GeForce graphics cards. It’s also TÜV Flicker-Free and Low Blue Light certified and supports the VESA DisplayHDR 400 specification. Ultra low motion blur is supported.
In terms of connectivity, there are two HDMI 2.0 ports and two DisplayPort 1.4 ports. There’s also an onboard USB hub with three USB 3.2 Gen 2 (Type-A) ports for connecting peripherals. Also, if you don’t want to connect external speakers, the VG34VQL3A comes with two 2 watt speakers. There’s also his 3.5 mm jack for headphones, though I doubt it’s good enough to satisfy the extreme audiophile.
Unfortunately, Asus has not provided any details about the expected price or availability of the VG34VQL3A. We’ll be very interested to see if it has the features we need to join our list of the best curved gaming monitors in future reviews.
