Billionaire Steven Cohen exits investment in quantitative trading startup Radkl

US Hedge Fund Manager Stephen Cohen Withdraws from Crypto Trading Firm Radkle, Bloomberg News report August 2.

Cohen, who owns the New York Mets of Major League Baseball, invested Radkl’s undisclosed amount for September 2021.

According to Bloomberg, at least four managing directors will leave Radkl in 2022, including Jim Greco, Alan Erskine, Jason Bell and Beatrice O’Carroll.

Bloomberg also reported that Radkl’s website lists five employees, one of whom confirmed to the press that she had left the company. However, CryptoSlate discovered that Radkl’s team her page had been taken down at the time of writing.

A Radkl spokesperson told Bloomberg in an email:

“Radkl continues to be very well funded to current investors and continues to grow rapidly.”

Quantitative trading startup Radkl was founded in 2021 by New York Stock Exchange market maker GTS. According to the press release announcing Cohen’s investment, Cohen invested in the company in a personal capacity and was not involved in day-to-day operations.

Cohen has other investments in the crypto sector. Metaverse investment platform DIGITAL, which Cohen co-founded, led his $50 million funding round on non-fungible token platform Recur last September.

In August 2021, Cohen’s hedge fund, Point72 Ventures, led a $21 million funding round in cryptocurrency intelligence firm Messari.
