Bored Ape creators unveil Bitcoin Ordinals collection “TwelveFold”

Yuga Labs releases a series of artistic cryptocollectibles on Bitcoin’s Ordinals protocol. February 27.

The collection is titled TwelveFold and contains 300 pieces of generative art (images created using algorithms).

Each image in the TwelveFold collection is designed around a 12×12 grid with reference to the commonly used hexadecimal timekeeping system. It also refers to the fact that a Bitcoin Ordinal is identified at the time it is created.

Yuga Labs has not announced a specific date for the auction. Instead, he said he would announce an auction within 24 hours of the event.

Yuga Labs is best known for its Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection of Ethereum-minted Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). The company called the new collection a “deviation from what was expected,” and said these items wouldn’t do anything for his other Yuga Labs projects, and he shunned TwelveFold from BAYC. .

This collection is notable for being one of the first Ordinal collections, arriving just weeks after Casey Rodermer launched Bitcoin Ordinal on January 21st. He is similar to NFT in that Ordinal includes media. However, Ordinal is made in Bitcoin, not Ethereum or related networks, and stores all data on-chain rather than in linked files.

According to data from Dune analysisas of February 27, over 202,800 ordinals have been minted on the Bitcoin blockchain.
