Terra implosion has already delayed the problem
In a video posted on June 20, IOCEO Charles Hoskinson addressed an issue related to the initial delay. He said it is currently possible to “switch on” it and avoid it.
However, as a precautionary measure, he asked the engineer to “measure three times and cut once,” taking into account the tether disaster, especially the breakdown of the pegging process by the USDT algorithm.
The knock-on effect meant additional testing in the Plutus suite, resulting in more quality assurance testing. The dApp developer was requesting additional time to test the upgrade during the testnet phase.
All of this pushed Vasil’s release past the first June 29 deadline.
When will Cardano developers deploy Vasil?
It was expected to be released at the end of July. However, in an episode of Cardano 360 on July 28, Hammond said the core development team is still working on fixing bugs identified during testing.
He added that the team is “thoroughly tested” and focused on making the code “perfectly correct.”
“The goal is to wash away the final problem when going to the Vasil hard fork.”
Hammond defended delays, stating that this is the nature of software development, which inevitably causes unexpected problems and leads to delays.
