Former television producer Chris Licht, who oversaw a short and chaotic tenure as CNN chairman, is leaving the network, according to a person briefed on the decision.
Licht’s brief tenure at CNN was met with controversy, culminating in his resignation Wednesday. He got off to a rocky start even before day one, as he shut down the CNN+ streaming service at the request of the network’s new owners, who were concerned about losing too much. His downsizing resulted in numerous layoffs and his new boss did not like his staff.
CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, did not respond to a request for comment.
