Core i9-13900K Soars To 8.2 GHz, Leaving Ryzen 7000 In The Dust

Celebrity overclocker Allen ‘Splave’ Golibersuch overclocked the Core i9-13900K processor to 8.2 GHz under liquid nitrogen (LN2) in the finale. Intel’s Creator Challenge (opens in new tab)The flagship Raptor Lake chip vying for the spot on our list of best CPUs hits retail on October 20th for $589.

The Core i9-13900K is a 24 core processor with 8 P cores and 16 E cores. The chip features turbo boost clocks of up to 5.8 GHz thanks to Intel’s Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) technology. Splave has pushed the Core i9-13900K to 8.2 GHz. That’s a staggering 41% above Intel’s specs.

The Core i9-13900K certainly shows great overclocking potential. In contrast, the previous Core i9-12900K could only achieve 7.6 GHz. So the Core i9-13900K beat the Core i9-12900K’s record by 8%.

AMD’s Zen 4 processors also have their own advantages. For example, we recently saw the Ryzen 9 7950X going up to 7.2 GHz on a single core and up to 6.5 GHz on all cores. However, according to HWbot, 7.4 GHz (7,471.96 MHz) is the highest reached by the Ryzen 9 7950X. So the Core i9-13900K clock speed is around 11% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X.
