Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro Review: All the Bells and Whistles
The Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro is a bite, but it’s also a printer.Immediately after announcing the deluxe Ender 3S1Creality has mysteriously added more features to its trusted flagship product, which we call the “pro” version.
None of these new features will throw the S1 in the trash, Ender 3 Pro Or V2 model.Ready to compete with The best 3D printer The Ender 3S1 Pro on the market comes with Creality’s first all-metal hot end, PEI flexplate, touch screen, improved spool holder, and built-in light kit.
This is in addition to the core improvements already introduced in the S1 version, such as direct drive, dual Z-axis, automatic bed leveling, and slots for full-sized SD cards.
Retail for $ 479 Creality website, This printer is far from its budget-focused roots.Still $ 360 cheaper Prusa MK3S + It’s a kit, but it’s almost double the price of the basic Ender 3 still on the market. The underground enders of those bargains are still popular because they are so easy to upgrade. You can add almost anything that comes with the Ender 3 S1 Pro to the traditional Ender 3. This is when you spend at least $ 350 on parts and add them to your old printer yourself (which is tedious and costly; you don’t own an ender yet 3).

Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro: Included in Box
The Ender 3 S1 Pro comes with everything you need to set up your printer. Tools are available for building and maintaining a full-sized SD card with printers, side cutters, metal scrapers, nozzle cleaners, spare nozzles, additional Z limit switches, and USB adapters. There is also a small sample of white PLA for printing the first model.
There are two short videos on the SD card. One is about assembling the printer and the other is about how to level the printer. You can also get a PDF copy of the manual, a copy of Creality Slicer 4.8.0, and pre-sliced .gcode and .stl format models.
Design of Creality Ender 3S1 Pro
The Ender 3 S1 Pro is considerably more flashy than the older Ender 3s, but slightly different from the previous S1.
The Ender 3 S1 Pro has an all-in-one design, a sleek metal frame and a modern look with flat cables. With Creality’s latest direct-drive all-metal sprite, not only does it improve performance, it also eliminates the need for bowden tubes.
Direct drive is an all-metal dual gear unit that works beautifully. It looks a bit industrial compared to the rest of the machine, but the lack of a plastic housing saves weight. It is a titanium heat break and can be heated up to 300 degrees toast. This allows you to print more material, but more importantly, to reduce the annoying clogging from the burnt PTFE tubing.
Creality Sprite extruders are shipped unmounted and are mounted with easy-to-reach screws.Easy to remove and can be replaced with a laser kit (Opens in a new tab), Purchased separately. We will review the laser at a later date.
I still don’t like the annoying front mount component cooling fan. It makes it difficult to see your first layer go down. The machine also comes with a runout sensor mounted near the spool holder and power loss recovery.
Like the S1, the Ender 3 S1 Pro has a CR Touch for automatic bed leveling, but retains the flexible springs and knobs on the bed. If CR Touch fails altogether, or you don’t like easy bed leveling, you can add a Z limit switch to Creality and switch it back to manual.
The last interesting addition is the dual Z-axis upgrade, which is usually reserved for large printers. The two master screws are synchronized with the belt for added security. The additional Z-axis ensures smoother printing by giving more support to the X gantry.
I was most excited to see my favorite upgrade, the PEI coated steel flex plate. The S1’s PC-coated plate was too sticky to be a floppy and had some damaged vase mode prints.
If you’ve used a Creality machine in the past, you’ll get a loop on your new touchscreen. The layout is completely different from all older versions, with complex text menus and, to be honest, it doesn’t make much sense in some places. For example, the auto preheat button is hidden under “manual” and the bed leveling is hidden under the settings.
Assembling the Creality Ender 3S1 Pro
The Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro is mostly pre-assembled and comes with some nicely labeled bolts and screws. Creativity learned from S1 and made the paper manual much bigger. If the video is easy to understand, you can watch a good assembly video on the included SD card.
I installed the gantry first. It fits in the slot of the base unit and is secured with two screws and two bolts on each side. The hot-end assembly was then attached to the X gantry with four screws. The control screen is bolted to the sides with three screws and the spool holder snaps into place at the top.
Wiring is very easy as everything is already mounted on the frame and all you have to do is connect it.
Finally, switch the power switch according to the main household electricity. This is 115V in the United States. Creality has a huge sticker on it to make sure you don’t overlook the hidden switch.
Leveling of Creality Ender 3S1 Pro
Ender 3 S1 Pro has CR Touch, a Creality version of the popular BL Touch installed. Physically tap the build surface with a metal probe to work on both metal and glass surfaces.
To level the printer for the first time, go to the Settings menu[水平]Choose.[開始]When clicked, the printer immediately enters the leveling routine without preheating and taps 16 points around the bed.
Then go back to the previous menu[自動レベル]Click and slide the paper under the nozzle to set the Z offset. Move the Z offset up and down until the nozzle scrapes the paper. The printer I tested was perfect for the first time without the need to adjust the Z.
If the CR Touch cannot level the bed, you will need to manually level it. This procedure is described in the manual.
Load filament into Creality Ender 3S1 Pro
The Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro is the first ender to incorporate a filament loading routine into the control panel. It is under Ready → In / Out. Click the nozzle icon and enter the number of millimeters you want to advance. It’s a good idea to start at 20. If the nozzle is not hot, the Ender 3 S1 Pro will automatically warm up to 200 degrees and advance the filament.
To unload the material, reverse the process.
File / Software Preparation for Creality Ender 3S1 Pro
Ender 3 S1 Pro comes with a copy of Creality Slicer 4.8.0. This is an older version of the Creality brand Cura, with all printers created so far preloaded. PrusaSlicer is another popular free alternative, and some find it easy to use.
The latest version of Cura (5.0) does not have an Ender 3 S1 Pro profile, but you can use the Ender 3 Pro profile to adjust the build height to 270. PrusaSlicer has a profile for Ender3S1. Same build size.
Printing with Creality Ender 3S1 Pro
The Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro printed brilliantly right out of the box. My first print was a Cat pre-sliced from an SD card. This was also the test print that came with the S1. It turned out to be exactly the same, including having the same small filament in the mouth. It is printed using the sample filament.
I like to test the adhesiveness of the bed with a print-in-place model like a flexi toy.this FlexiFactory Dolphin It conformed to the bill and was printed very nicely. I manually color swapped to use up the final scrap of PLA.This will be printed with Inland turquoise PLA (Opens in a new tab) When Matter Hackers Pro Series Blue PLA. (Opens in a new tab) This took 3 hours 55 minutes at a layer height of 0.2 mm and a speed of 60 mm.
I wanted to test the TPU in an interesting way, so I did this really cool Coaster set from Trilobyte 3D.. I won the coaster contest at Printables.com. This is a three-part print where the leaves printed on the TPU are flattened and the stems and pots are printed separately without support. The leaves are made from Matter Hackers Translucent Green TPU (Opens in a new tab) Remove the stem and place it under the drink. The stem is Polyalchemy Elixir’s Emerald City Green Silk and the pot is Still Colorful 11 Protopasta Recycled PLA. Everything was printed individually with a standard 0.2mm layer height, and the entire project took 19 hours and 45 minutes to print.
I was looking for a practical print, and now I found it jq910 credit card cutlery model..Used Keen Village Edge Glow Glass PETG. It’s only 9 layers thick, but it’s still pretty sturdy. It was printed in 36 minutes with a layer height of 0.2 mm and a speed of 60 mm.
I used this to see how big I could print with the Ender 3 S1 Pro Twist cloud vase by PressPrint Expanded by 200% until the bed is full. Then I ran it Blue / Purple Evyone Matte Dual Color PLA (Opens in a new tab).. Since it is a vase mode print, it only took 7 hours and 36 minutes when the layer height was 0.2 mm and the speed was 60 mm.
Conclusion
The Ender 3 S1 Pro is a great printer, a refreshing pace change from the start. Easy to assemble, the CR Touch leveling system worked perfectly without any adjustments. The new PEI coated flex plate is great and with every small upgrade from the light kit to all metal hot ends, this printer feels like a complete consumer product. This isn’t a scientific project that sticks out of the hut, it’s real hardware that sits proudly on your desk.
Priced at $ 479, the S1 Pro has everything you need for a 3D printer and has more features than many competing products. However, if you want a deluxe ender experience and don’t need an all-metal hot end, you can save a few dollars by getting the ender 3S1. Another feature-packed printer we like is the Anycubic Kobra, which costs $ 319. This is an editor’s choice and has been chosen as the best printer for beginners.
