Diablo IV PC Performance: We’re Testing a Bunch of GPUs
Diablo IV — Introduction
Diablo IV Arrived, 11 years since the previous work. The game will be in ‘Early Access’ for the next few days for people willing to put up extra money and buy the game. deluxe again ultimate Edition. I got the Ultimate code for testing. The game will unlock on June 1st at 6pm PDT. Once released, the benchmarking fun begins. How does it work and what hardware do you need? That’s what we aim for.
A lot has changed in the last decade, especially in the world of PC hardware. The fastest PCs in mid-2012 consisted of a shiny new Core i7-3770K paired with a Radeon HD 7970 or GeForce GTX 680. Alternatively, if you’re interested in a HEDT setup, it consisted of a Core i7-3960X with dual GPU GeForce GTX. 690 or Radeon HD 6990? Typical PCs come with 8 GB of memory, while high-end systems may come with 16 GB of memory. Most people still used hard drives, usually in the 250 GB to 500 GB variety, rather than SSDs.
But it’s not just the hardware that has changed. I migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 8/8.1, 10, 11. Back in 2012, microtransactions were relatively new, digital cosmetic purchases were despised, and there were no live service games.it’s a wonderful new world Diablo IVIn other words.
latest update
May 31, 7:23 PM EDT: It has not yet been tested as we are waiting for the start of the full retail launch. Start with the Nvidia RTX 40 series. They support DLSS 3 and have Game Ready Drivers, so move them down the list.
Please note that this article will be updated periodically over the next few days as hardware tests and charts are updated. The GPU has not been tested, so if you would like me to run the benchmark, please request it in the article comments.can’t test all, but come on, this is Diablo! There are probably millions of people waiting to play this game, with everything from top-of-the-line extreme gaming PCs to portable potatoes.
Try checking out at least one currently supported GPU from each generation of AMD, Nvidia, and Intel (i.e. with latest drivers). This means AMD RX 400 series and newer (2016 and newer), Nvidia GTX 900 series and newer (2014 and newer), and Intel Arc. Ha. Well, if I have time, I’ll try some integrated graphics solutions as well.
Diablo IV — System Requirements
of Diablo IV Official System Requirements Please do not look that too Cumbersome. In fact, his PC from 2012 might even run the game. The breakdown is as follows.
Minimum PC requirements
Blizzard says a minimum spec PC can manage 720p on low settings and 30 fps when upscaled to 1080p. We’re not going to… test the bare minimum PC. Not at least at first. The main reason is that most of those parts are not at hand. I’ll leave it as an internet-wide exercise for now, so if you have such a system, feel free to comment on the forums on how it works.
However, there are some interesting pieces of information. For example, the CPUs are very old by today’s standards and the GPUs both stopped getting driver updates in the last year or two. Has Blizzard tested with the final AMD 22.6.1 and Nvidia 474.30 drivers? (Nvidia has released security updates for some older GPUs such as the GTX 660, with the last driver being March 2023, but the last “Game Ready” release being 472.12 in September 2021. ) Also, the R9 280 has literally changed the badge for the Radeon HD 7950 Boost. This means that technically we can go a little further back on the GPU side.
The DirectX 12 requirement is also a bit interesting as older GPUs can have issues. There are also GPUs that are DX12 compatible and actually work well with DX12. In my experience, his sub-4GB cards have always been a bit problematic with DX12 games.
8 GB of system memory is not a problem for most people. Windows itself tends to need at least 8 GB to run properly unless you’re doing things like installing Tiny 11. Likewise, 90GB of free space isn’t too bad these days. Buy 2TB SSD for $75 (This is from the Solidigm P41 Plus, which we reviewed and found to be fine, considering capacity and price).
Recommended (medium) PC requirements
Stepping up to the recommended specs would require a CPU from around 2014 or later on Intel’s side, or AMD’s 1st Gen Quad Core Ryzen CPUs. Anyway, these are CPUs without SMT/hyperthreading. Still enough to get 60 fps at 1080p and medium settings.Apparently Diablo IV If these recommendations are helpful, you won’t be short on resources.
Graphics card candidates are now up to 4GB cards, but the GTX 970 was launched in 2014 and is still quite old by today’s standards. Still, it’s about as fast as his GTX 1650 in 2019, which this one isn’t. or Year.
Blizzard also bumps up the RAM recommendation to 16GB, which is recommended for most people. Having 16 GB (or more) of memory makes Windows feel much better. The rest of the requirements have not changed, so I removed them from the list.
high PC requirements
Blizzard’s recommended specs are 1080p on high settings, but still aiming for 60 fps. The components are from his circa 2018 (with some differences). The CPU is a 6-core/12-thread Intel chip or an 8-core/16-thread AMD chip from a few generations ago.
The GPUs are also several generations old, the RTX 2060 and RX 5700 XT. If I were to pick a fine point, I’d point out that the RX 5700 XT would be around 30% faster than his RTX 2060 for non-ray tracing games based on the GPU benchmark hierarchy. Also, VRAM is increased by 2GB.
again, Diablo IV supports DLSS 3. That means it also supports DLSS 2 upscaling, which typically delivers a 30% performance boost over the RTX 2060. However, it’s not clear if Blizzard is considering DLSS.
Requirements for Ultra 4K PCs
Finally, for 4K Ultra at 60 fps, the only change is that Blizzard recommends 32 GB of system memory and you’ll need a more powerful GPU (RTX 3080 or RX 6800 XT) . They are at least roughly equivalent, but worth mentioning. Diablo IV Does not support ray tracing at launch – that will be provided later. According to Nvidia.
In the rasterization test suite, the RTX 3080 is 5% faster than the RX 6800 XT at 4K Ultra. Once the game supports ray tracing, that lead could grow to over 50% of his, depending on how demanding ray tracing is. Consider DLSS upscaling (not sure if) Diablo IV does not yet support FSR 2), the difference could be even greater. But you’ll soon find out how the game works.
Diablo IV — First impressions
we can’t play Diablo IV I haven’t been able to access the preview code yet. I didn’t want to waste time performance testing on non-public code if possible. However, many gaming sites play games and post their impressions.
sister site PC gamer’s Diablo IV under review It seems overwhelmed by the live service nature and the “just wait for the end of the game” design philosophy. The winner is still undecided, opting to wait for a retail launch. At the other end of the spectrum, Provided by GamesRadar+ Diablo IV In our editors-chosen five-star review, we call it “an epic, absurd loot theme park,” despite reviewing the Xbox Series X version.Overall, the current Metacritic score of 88 The PC version looks pretty favourable.
I haven’t seen many comments about performance. This is a good thing because it probably means the game runs smoother than runny. Nvidia’s preview benchmarks show the RTX 4070 getting 43 fps at his 4K max settings without upscaling and 113 fps with upscaling and frame generation. Meanwhile, the RTX 4090 hit 95 fps in 4K native and 229 fps with DLSS 3 upscaling and Framegen.
In other words, for high-end PCs, Diablo IV It doesn’t seem like a lot of work. Many suspect that with relatively modest hardware, he’ll have a lot of fun playing in 4K and high settings. And Ray hopes that when the tracing update rolls out, we’ll get not just slightly better shadows, but nice, enhanced visuals.
probably, Diablo III era. Join us tonight for our benchmark party starting at 7pm EDT. In the meantime, let us know on the forums which GPU you’d like us to benchmark first. We will do our best to accommodate your request.
