G.Skill Preps DDR5-6400 Overclocked ECC RDIMM RAM
You don’t usually find the words “overclock” and “ECC” in the same sentence, but nevertheless G.Skill has come up with what we believe to be the first overclocked DDR5 RDIMM (registered DIMM) memory modules for workstations and workstations. I didn’t stop cooking. server. The new Zeta R5 memory arrives just in time for Xeon W Sapphire Rapids chips, ready to compete with the best RAM on the market.
G.Skill also sells standard memory, but enthusiast and gaming memory are the strengths of the brand. However, G.Skill finally seems to be able to enter the server memory market with confidence.overclocking celebrity Roman “der8auer” Hartung (opens in new tab) We gave a small preview of G.Skill’s first server memory kit under the newly created Zeta R5 lineup.
The Zeta R5 memory modules debut with a black PCB and a simple aluminum heat spreader. The heat spreader is filled with fancy marketing specs, but without his RGB onboard. After all, this is server memory, so there is no room for that nonsense. The memory kit part number is F5-6400R3239G16GE8-ZR5K and has a total capacity of 128GB. Each memory module is 16 GB, so the memory kit consists of 8 pieces.
The Zeta R5’s kit capacity isn’t all that surprising by today’s standards. Thanks to the introduction of 48GB memory modules, the vendor has launched products with up to 192GB in his four DIMM memory kits. Apparently, those are his UDIMMs (unregistered his DIMMs) and G.Skill’s latest offering is his RDIMM with standard error correction code (ECC). This is essential in a server world where data integrity is number one on the priority list.
G.Skill did some impressive binning with the Zeta R5 memory kit. It runs at the popular DDR5-6400 data rates with fairly tight timings. The vendor sets the memory timings to 32-39-39-102 and the required DRAM voltage is 1.4V. Since these are overclocked memory modules, they support XMP 3.0 with one-click setup.
G.Skill has yet to launch Zeta R5 memory kits, so pricing and availability are unknown. Now that the cat is out of the bag, expect G.Skill to make an official announcement soon.
