British officials approved criminal accusations against Harvey Weinstein in London in 1996 with two counts of vulgar assaults on women, the State Prosecutor’s Office announced at. news release Wednesday.
Weinstein, 70, has been convicted of a felony sex crime in New York and is awaiting a trial in Los Angeles. She has been charged with several rapes and other charges in Los Angeles.
“After reviewing the evidence collected by the Metropolitan Police Department in the investigation, the charges against Harvey Weinstein, 70, were approved,” the news release said.
Earlier this month, the New York Court of Appeals upheld Weinstein’s 2020 conviction for felony sex crimes, increasing his likelihood of serving a significant portion of his 23-year sentence. Weinstein’s lawyer said at the time that his legal team would seek the state’s Supreme Court of Appeals to review the judgment.
