Huobi announces launch of world’s first national token, DMC

Huobi says it will launch the world’s first national token, called the Dominican Coin (DMC), endorsed by the Dominican Republic.

As the world’s first national token, DMC will first be issued on the Tron blockchain (TRC20) and later extended to both Ethereum (ERC20) and Binance Smart Chain (BEP20).

Huobi announced that DMC tokens will be issued for sale through Huobi Prime, providing Dominica DID status to all registered users.

“Accounts verified with a Dominican DID enjoy the same rights and benefits as accounts verified through other nationalities, subject to compliance with laws and regulations.”

Additionally, Huobi said it will give holders of DMC tokens the opportunity to obtain a passport issued by the Dominican government, giving holders visa-free access to over 130 countries.

DMC tokens have been “given statutory status as an approved cryptocurrency in the Dominican Federation and may be circulated locally in Dominica as a means of payment.”

Huobi said future plans include a Dominica metaverse that uses DMC tokens as its native token, allowing holders to “enjoy various privileges in the metaverse.”
