Lenovo Announces New ThinkVision Monitors Including 49-inch Dual QHD Monster

Lenovo today announced updates to its ThinkPad X1 laptops and convertibles featuring mobile versions of Intel’s 13th Gen Raptor Lake processors. The new laptop will ship in his April, but that’s not the only thing Lenovo has announced. The company has pulled wraps from several ThinkVision monitors, including a giant 49-inch ultra-wide unit that dominates nearly any desk it sits on.

Our starting point is the ThinkVision P32p-30, a 31.5-inch 4K monitor. The monitor features an IPS panel with a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 6ms response time (4ms in extreme mode), a 60Hz refresh rate and a maximum brightness of 350nits. ThinkVision P32p-30 covers 100% of sRGB and 95% of DCI-P3 color space.

No surprises here, as the monitor features a 3-sided “borderless design” and EyeSafe Certified 2.0 support. Like most ThinkVision monitors, it comes with a wealth of connectivity options to enhance employee productivity, including support for the ThinkVision VoIP modular stack. Also built in are two HDMI 2.0, one DisplayPort 1.4, two Thunderbolt 4, two USB 3.2 (Gen 1) Type-A, and RJ45 ports. Finally, the monitor can be tilted, swiveled and height adjusted.

The real show stopper, though, is the ThinkVision P49w-30, boasting a 5120 x 1440 resolution at 49 inches diagonal. Most IPS panels have a contrast ratio of 1000:1 to around 1300:1, but the ThinkVision P49w-30 bumps that number up to 2000:1.

This monitor is designed with productivity in mind, so it doesn’t have a very short response time or a high refresh rate. Instead, you get the same 6ms/4ms response time and 60Hz refresh rate as the smaller ThinkVision P32p-30. The maximum brightness is also the same at 350 nits, but the DCI-P3 coverage is slightly increased to 98% (numbers not announced for sRGB color space).

ThinkVision P49w-30 has more ports, 2x HDMI 2.1, 1x DisplayPort 1.4, 2x Thunderbolt 4, 4x USB 3.2 (Gen 1) Type-A, USB 3.2 (Gen 1) Type-C one (supports 15W charging), and an RJ45 port. The ThinkVision P32p-30 does not include speakers, while the larger ThinkVision P49w-30 has dual 5-watt speakers.

According to Lenovo, the ThinkVision P32p-30 will be available in April 2023 and will cost $999, while the ThinkVision P49w-30 will retail in June 2023 for $1,699.
