Lenovo’s New ‘Loq’ Gaming PCs Are Basically Lower-End Legions

Lenovo is making a new foray into the entry-level/budget gaming market with its new “Loq” (stylized “LOQ” pronounced “lock”) gaming laptops and desktops. The Loq laptop comes in 15-inch and 16-inch sizes and has a 17-liter desktop chassis.

Laptops come in both Intel and AMD variants, while desktops use only the latest Intel desktop chips.

The Lenovo Loq 15 and 15i stick to 15-inch, 16:9 screens at 2560 x 1440 and 165 Hz, while the Loq 16 and 16i use trendier 16:10 displays, 16-inch screens at 2560 x 1660. To do. and 165Hz.

Lenovo’s Loq branding closely resembles the Legion design of premium systems. Previously, Lenovo’s lowest-end gaming laptop had the name IdeaPad Gaming. Styling from the Loq logo to the chassis clearly indicates that it is related to Lenovo’s Legion gaming notebooks.

The AMD and Intel versions share many specs such as display, battery, RAM and storage options. The Intel machine will be an Intel Core i7-13700H and the AMD machine will be a Ryzen 7 7840HS (which is a “Phoenix” chip and Pushed from the first March release). Lenovo claims “up to” four heatpipes (for larger systems) and he uses two 85mm fans to cool the laptop. Each laptop has a second PCIe slot for storage upgrades later.

Lenovo also has an AI chip called LA AI in its Loq laptops (they are also in its Legion devices). These say you can adjust heat and wattage to optimize gaming performance.

A 16-inch laptop has an 80 Whr battery, while a 15-inch laptop has a 60 Whr capacity. Lenovo says the larger batteries can use a technology called “Super Rapid Charge Pro.” (Yes, that’s what Lenovo calls it.) It charges quickly, but no figures are given for its charging speed.

Lenovo’s Loq Tower is a simple black block with a bluish tint to the front of its 17-liter chassis. Lenovo claims it will include up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700 (on a B760, mATX motherboard) and Nvidia’s RTX 40 series GPUs, but hasn’t specified. (For example, we don’t see this version with the RTX 4090.) Storage options top out with a 1 TB PCIe NVME SSD and a 2 TB, 7,200 rpm hard drive.

The desktop will be available in the fall, starting at $979.99. Both the Loq 15i and Loq 15 are set to start at $899.99, with the Intel version launching in April and the AMD version in his May. The Loq 16i will be available in May 2023 starting at $1,149.99 and the Loq 16 in June starting at $959.99.

Lenovo also announced new versions of its high-end 16-inch Lenovo Legion Slim 7 and Slim 5 today, with both Intel and AMD processors and Nvidia GPUs. The Intel version is expected to ship in April, followed by AMD options in May. The 14-inch Slim 5 is slated for his October launch, but no pricing has been announced yet. These laptops will feature up to Intel Core i9-13900H and Ryzen 9 7940HS, various Nvidia RTX 40-series GPUS 9, and in some versions the RTX 3050.
