Microsoft Provides New Performance Tips for Windows 11 Gamers
Prior to its launch a year ago, Microsoft had a lot to say to listeners about Windows 11’s gaming capabilities. But the truth in last December’s survey side-by-side test was that Windows 11 was neither better nor worse than Windows 10 when it came to gaming. performance.Microsoft is now publishing a new blog post chips (opens in new tab) Learn for gamers how to optimize gaming performance on Windows 11.
There are two main ways Microsoft tells users to adjust their PC configuration for better gaming performance. Turning off Hypervisor-Protected Code Integrity (HVCI), also known as Memory Integrity, and turning off Virtual Machine Platform (VMP).
A new blog post explains why these security features exist, why they’re enabled by default on all new Windows 11 devices, and why gamers may choose to disable them, at least temporarily. Gamers who prioritize performance may want to try these changes, but Microsoft warns that once turned off, “the device may be vulnerable to threats.”
After the warning has been clarified, Microsoft has kindly provided an easy-to-follow walkthrough (with screenshots) that guides gamers through the steps to toggle between two security settings that can affect game performance.
Frustratingly, Microsoft doesn’t provide any hints as to what performance benefits you’ll get if you turn off HVCI or VMP. We estimate the difference in performance when switching these security options on or off to be around 5-10%. Our guess is based on some early testing within the first week of Windows 11 launch, switching between Microsoft’s virtualization-based security (VBS) and HVCI, noting the performance difference. However, things may be different now.
I haven’t tested Microsoft’s latest advice on the latest version of Windows 11 (v 22H2) yet, but I hope you have the chance to try this officially approved Windows 11 tweaking advice and reap the benefits ASAP. please give me. We know that many gamers are starting to move to Windows 11 via upgrades or new PCs.
