MSI MEG Ai1000P PCIe 5 ATX v3.0 Power Supply Review

The MSI MEG Ai1000P PCIe5 achieves top performance and is ready for the latest standards due to the fact that it supports ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0. This combination puts you in the best PSU articles. It delivers roughly similar performance to the Seasonic Prime Platinum 1000 and EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 P6, but neither of these units feature a 12VHPWR connector and are not ATX 3.0 compatible.
Besides ATX 3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compatibility, the MSI MEG Ai1000P PCIe 5 also has an interesting (or even attractive) exterior design. Compatible with MSI Gaming Intelligence applications thanks to the semi-digital platform used by the PSUs provided by Channel Well Technology to adjust several settings such as fan speeds and turning single +12V mode on/off I can do it. while monitoring the PSU’s critical functions and power delivery.
The MEG Ai1000P PCIe5 features a fully modular cable design, with sufficiently compact dimensions considering the depth capacity of 160mm. MSI could use a larger fan than the 120mm they used to keep the noise output lower. extended to a year.

The platform was created by CWT and uses a semi-digital design codenamed CTT. This is a modern design where the digital controller handles the primary and part of the secondary. Thanks to the digital controller, the PSU can “talk” to the system, allowing users to monitor critical functions as well as change fan speed control and turn multi-rail mode on/off for 12V rails. . CWT uses high-end parts everywhere, the only objection is the small diameter fans are very high quality, but the chassis can accommodate a 140mm fan.
Transient/EMI filters have all the necessary components including MOVs for protection against voltage surges. Additionally, there is an NTC thermistor and bypass relay combination to suppress high inrush currents.
A pair of bridge rectifiers can handle up to 50A.
The APFC circuit has two Infineon FETs and two boost diodes. This is due to the use of an interleaved design in which the two converters work in parallel. The bulk cap is made by Nichicon and has a high total capacity, easily achieving hold-up times in excess of 17 ms.
The four main FETs are installed in a full-bridge topology. LLC resonant converters are also used to reduce energy loss.
This is the board that holds one of Texas Instruments’ digital controllers.
Six Infineon FETs regulate the 12V rail. Two VRMs produce minor rails.
All filter caps are of high quality electrolytic and polymer.
The standby PWM controller is On Bright. OB2365T.
Besides bus bars and shunt resistors, there are some filter caps on the surface of the modular board.
The main supervisor IC is Weltrend WT7502R.
The soldering quality isn’t the best CWT has seen, probably because this was an early sample.
Powerlogic fans are high quality and use hydrodynamic bearings. However, MSI can use a larger diameter fan to lower the noise output.
