MSI’s 24.5-Inch G253PF Gaming Monitor Can Hit 380Hz

With the addition of the G253PF, MSI’s gaming monitor lineup has grown by one. MSI aims his G253PF squarely at the eSports cloud with a 24.5-inch in-plane switching (IPS) panel with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. However, the standout feature here is the monitor’s 380Hz refresh rate.

380Hz may not seem as impressive next to our recently reviewed 500Hz Alienware AW2524H, but we’re confident the G253PF won’t cost anywhere near $829 when connected via HDMI. , is limited to 240 Hz at Full HD resolution. The 380Hz refresh rate is only unlocked using the DisplayPort interface with overclocking enabled.

Given the IPS technology lurking underneath, the typical contrast ratio is only 1,000:1, compared to around 3,000:1 found in competing VA panels. MSI also mentions a 1ms gray-to-gray response time and support for Nvidia G-Sync. Typical brightness is 320 nits, while HDR peak brightness is 400 nits (VESA DisplayHDR 400 certified). MSI also states that G253PF covers 106% of the sRGB color gamut, while DCI-P3 has 83% coverage.

MSI equips the G253PF with two HDMI 2.0b ports and one DisplayPort 1.4a port. There’s also a headphone jack, but no USB port or built-in speakers. The monitor is tilt (5-20 degrees) and height (0-130 mm) adjustable, but has no swivel or pivot adjustment.
