MSI’s Adds Backup Capability to PCIe Gen5 SSDs

MSI announced its third SSD with PCIe 5.0 x4 interface this week. The new Spatium M570 HS drive could be considered a downgraded version of the Spatium M570 SSD introduced last September. That’s good enough for one of the best his SSDs available today, as it has poor performance and only offers sequential read/write speeds of up to 10GB/s. Modern drives, on the other hand, come with data backup software, which is useful for both enthusiasts and prosumers.

MSI’s Spatium M570 HS The drive is based on Phison’s PS5026-E26 controller and 3D TLC NAND memory and comes in 1TB and 2TB configurations. The manufacturer rates his 2TB version of the Spatium M570 HS with sequential read and write speeds of up to 10TB/s and random read/write speeds of up to 1.4M/1.5M 4K IOPS. The SSD comes in an M.2 2280 form factor and is equipped with a large copper heatsink to ensure consistent performance even under heavy load.

Speaking of performance, the Spatium M570 HS uses 3D TLC memory with a 1600 MT/s interface instead of 2400 MT/s, resulting in significantly slower sequential read speeds than the Spatium M570 introduced in September. (10 GB/s vs. 12 GB/s). Interface similar to the original M570. The new Spatium M570 HS drive, on the other hand, has better random performance than his original M570.

Sequential read/write speed is important for read/write intensive applications, but for most tasks it is random read/write IOPS performance that impacts user experience. In that case, the Spatium M570 HS drives may actually be a better choice than the one the company announced a few months ago. Note that MSI is also working on his Spatium M570 Pro SSD configured to offer sequential read speeds of around 12GB/s.
