‘My Donkey, My Lover & I’ Review: Three’s a Crowd

“My donkey, my lover and me” is yet another story about a woman who goes wild and finds herself. But in honor of writer and director Caroline Vignal, this understated romantic French comedy proves to be lighter and more unique than the reliance on this metaphor for feminist empowerment suggests. increase.

One is a donkey, like a life coach, who yells at every approach, especially a toxic man.

Laure Calamy in the series “Call My Agent!” Plays Antoinette, a stupid and hopelessly romantic school teacher. They are singing love ballads, and although unknown to the children and (most) the audience, the numbers are to Antoinette’s lover, Vladimir (Benjamin Raburn), and one of her students’ married fathers. It also serves as a secret serenade.

Unfortunately, a man in the family has to cancel his planned lovers’ hideout when his wife hikes in Cevennes National Park for a week. Antoinette reserves the same difficult trek and responds chasing him, hoping to “stumbl” on the man, even if he is inexperienced in hiking or prefers heels.

Like Vladimir, Antoinette rents a donkey Patrick. I will never forget its name. Our heroine shouts it about 100 times. Patrick initially refused to walk, but he turned out to be a good listener and personality judge.

Not only delusionally Gaga, but thanks to Calamy’s well-founded performance, the girlish, naive and compassionate Antoinette encounters different types of people along the way. The actual roll of hay with Vlad.

The film, and its blindly determined heroine, have more in common with “Legally Blonde” than something like “Wild,” but its bright, beautiful, rugged landscape and winding rhythms are overall. Produces a cool tone. Despite Vignal’s intentions, the drama seems to be less effective as a result — so is a physical comedy bout.Regardless, sometimes just fun Travel is fascinating.
