Never-Released RTX 3070 Ti 16GB Graphics Card Surfaces

The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, which used to be one of the best graphics cards, has a long-lost brother who never made its debut on the market. However, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB we’ve seen on multiple EEC listings looks like the real deal, or at least has been around for a while.
hardware leaker MEGA size GPU (opens in new tab) We’ve shared some pictures and GPU-Z screenshots of what we believe to be the unannounced GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB. It’s a little confusing, though. The photo is of the GeForce RTX 3070 Founders Edition. The backplate design and model name confirm that.
However, the GPU-Z screenshot shows specs for the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, but with 16GB of GDDR6 memory instead of 8GB. From the looks of it, we suspect the manufacturer recycled his GeForce RTX 3070 cooler for this particular GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB. However, he’s already seen a user mod that doubles the memory capacity of his GeForce RTX 3070, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB of his is a lab experiment from someone’s garage. .
The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB uses the same GA104 (Ampere) silicon used in the regular GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. It continues to use 6,144 CUDA cores combined with 192 Tensor Cores and 48 RT Cores. However, the clock speeds are seemingly different. The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti features a base clock of 1,575 MHz and a boost clock of 1,770 MHz, while the never-before-seen 16GB variant features a base clock of 1,590 MHz and a boost clock of 1,800 MHz.
As the name suggests, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB has double the memory of the original GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. However, according to the leaked GPU-Z screenshot, the memory modules are different. All this time we thought the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB would use the same GDDR6X memory module as the regular variant. However, in the GPU-Z screenshot, that’s not the case. Instead, the 16GB model is said to use much slower GDDR6 memory modules.
The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti has a 19 Gbps GDDR6X memory module, communicating over a 256-bit interface to deliver up to 608 GBps of memory bandwidth. Meanwhile, the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB will reportedly feature a 16 Gbps GDDR6 memory module. However, having a 256-bit memory bus, the graphics card only offers 512 GBps of memory bandwidth.
The GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB has slightly faster clock speeds and doubles the memory capacity, but the Ampere graphics card offers lower memory bandwidth than the 8GB model. Sadly, we haven’t seen any leaked benchmarks for the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB, so its performance remains a mystery.
