Nvidia Hotfix Eliminates High CPU Usage Driver Bug
Nvidia released GeForce Hotfix drivers Version 531.26This hotfix is provided to fix a widely reported driver bug that was an unwelcome guest within the latest WHQL certified downloads. This bug introduced an Nvidia software component that continued to hog 10-15% of CPU time even after exiting the game.

Game Ready Driver version 531.18 was probably a very popular release due to the addition of RTX Video Super-Resolution support, Atomic Heart DLSS 3 optimizations, and notable for The Finals Closed Beta. It also fixed some bugs but somehow caused annoying CPU usage issues.
Sean Pelletier, Senior Product Manager for GeForce Game Ready Drivers, said: tweeted Earlier today about having a hotfix ready. In a follow-up post, he reminded potential users that Hotfix his driver “has not gone through the full Game Ready testing process and has not been WHQL certified.”
GeForce Hotfix Driver version 531.26 has a bonus for some GeForce GPU packing laptop owners, which is also worth highlighting. Also fixed today is an issue where “certain laptops with GeForce GTX 10/MX250/350 series GPUs may experience random bugchecks”.
