Pine64’s RISC-V Ox64 Takes On Raspberry Pi Pico W

The Raspberry Pi Pico W has a new competitor in the upcoming form of Pine64. Ox64,discover CNX software (opens in new tab), packs a lot of computing power into a small space using the increasingly popular RISC-V architecture. In fact, the line between microcontrollers and his SBC is blurring.

There has been no official announcement, and the company has neither tweeted nor blogged about it. Although there is no way to actually buy the board yet, Pine64 WikiI have a dual core Bouffalo Lab BL808 RISC-V (opens in new tab) The core is a SoC, but the cores do not match. One is Alibaba T-head C906 64-bit core running at 480MHz and the other is Alibaba T-head E907 32-bit core running at 230MHz. The microcontroller has a massive 64MB of RAM, AI Engine (Bouffalo’s BLAI-100), Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5, and IEEE 802.15.4 aka Zigbee. There’s also flash storage up to 128Mbit and a micro SD card slot, which can also be used when installed on a carrier board with an Ethernet port.
