Raptor Lake Refresh CPU Clocks May Not Break 6 GHz: Report
Intel recently officially unveiled its Raptor Lake Refresh chips, suggesting that the first unlocked ‘K’ processors will be released in mid-October. However, as it stands he shouldn’t get too excited about leaks that indicate a 6.2 GHz boost he clock may be available. today, bench life source said that the flagship Intel Core i9-14900K “could hit 6.0 GHz” at best, throwing cold water on rumors above 6.0 GHz. Notably, his 6.0 GHz boost clock for this CPU only matches the previous generation (current) Core i9-13900KS.
First Batch Of Intel 14th Gen Core ‘Raptor Lake Refresh’ Chips For Desktop Will Be 3 Unlocked CPUs: Intel Core i5-14600K, Core i7-14700K, Core i9-14900K (Also KF Processors) . Intel expects to differentiate refreshed parts in a number of ways. Some chips may have more efficiency cores (E-cores), amount of smart cache available, and/or clock speeds, but the change between generations varies by SKU.
Let’s create a table comparing the specs of the previous generation (current generation) Core i9-13900K and its supposed successor.

Assuming Benchlife’s sources are correct, Refresh buyers will have significantly fewer options compared to the previous generation. For Intel’s gaming CPU marketing arm, though, the upgrade might make a lot of money. The only change in the table above is the clock speed increase for the P+E cores, nothing in terms of additional E cores or caches. Upgraders are likely hoping for a rumored improved Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) and other behind-the-scenes improvements. Yesterday, we hinted at the lack of a Raptor Lake Refresh, but it’s easily overshadowed by the awesomeness we’re seeing at Arrow Lake.
Hopefully the Raptor Lake Refresh CPU lineup isn’t completely overwhelmed. Among the first of his three ‘K’ suffixed SKUs, the Core i7 14700K stands out by boasting an all-new configuration of 8P + 12E (compared to his 8P + 8E of the current generation), for example. There seems to be
On the other hand, those dreaming of an out-of-the-box boost-clocked over 6.0 GHz Raptor Lake Refresh CPU may have to wait for the inevitable performance bin Intel Core i9-14900KS launch.
