Raspberry Pi Costume Automatically Dispenses Candy
There are no tricks in this raspberry pi Project — Only available on demand thanks to this amazing wearable project created by the maker Yinglish119. Instead of creating a simple candy dispenser, Yinglish119 turned his idea into something completely portable and wearable. geek costume It looks like the candy it offers.
Yinglish119 himself wears a suspender and bowtie combo and carries a giant geek candy box filled with all the Pi-powered goodness we love. To dispense the candy, the user waves his hand in front of the ultrasonic sensor, which triggers an internal mechanism that dispenses a box of candy from the bottom of the giant nerd’s box.
According to Yinglish119, candies are loaded into the magazine and pushed out the bottom thanks to a continuously rotating servo motor. When sensors detect the user, wheels within the suit activate, picking up boxes of candy and moving them down a channel, leading them to a platform at the base of the costume.
The candy dispenser suit is powered by a Raspberry Pi 4 connected to ultrasonic sensors and servos. The sensor is definitely an HC-SR04 and the breadboard suggests using a voltage divider to reduce the voltage of his GPIO on the Raspberry Pi from 5V to 3.3V. You can get 3V versions of HC-SR04 namely HC-SR04P and HC-SRO4+. I use these on my Raspberry Pi Pico. In addition to the electronics, Yinglish119 made a wooden frame and internal mounting components to help load the candy onto the dispensing platform. Everything is hidden behind a shell that resembles a nerd’s box, albeit on a gigantic scale.
Otaku’s costume is not only programmed to detect when it’s time to hand out candy, but it also has sensors to confirm that the candy has been delivered. In addition, Yinglish119 has added a code to prevent any jamming that may occur during the dispensing process.
