Raspberry Pi Pico Powered Cyberpunk Neck Watch Tells More Than Just the Time

Once upon a time, people relied on pocket watches and wrist watches to tell the time. Now, thanks to smartphones, those days are slowly fading away. However, one maker and developer known as Yakroo has started a new cyberpunk-themed trend for makers with their latest project. Using the board with Raspberry Pi Pico RP2040he created a wearable neck watch Not only is it convenient, it also looks cool!
But this neck watch does more than just tell the time. There are many features programmed to make Yakroo a more enjoyable device. It has a clock (obviously), can scroll selected text, show GIF animations, and stills, and has a built-in sleep mode to save battery life.
A lot of effort went into creating this project. As well as using the Waveshare RP2040 Zero board (which bears a striking resemblance to the SB Components Micro RP2040), Yakroo has developed a custom PCB that integrates everything from hardware to cool cyberpunk designs. When testing the unit, he confirmed a full week of battery life, but that depends on how often you wake up the watch.
The driving board behind the clock is Waveshare’s RP2040-Zero module. It combines a DS3231M+TRL real-time clock module with an ST7789 TFT LCD screen for visual output. His PCB made by Yakroo was printed using the following method: printed circuit board way The design is posted on the website, so if you are interested, please check it out.
Yakroo said the project was programmed in MicroPython. The LCD screen loads a custom his user interface with a wealth of setting options to customize the neckwatch to your liking. You can set the clock, style your face, apply custom fonts, and more. The software can be operated using his three buttons on the front labeled “Mode”, “Next” and “Settings”.
